For those who weren't able to make it, you missed a great show. The place was packed with "sing-alongers," regular "listen-alongers," and even a few "follow-alongers" (those hard core fans that brought their scores just to watch the music).

Messiah History

Handel's Messiah has quite a history that most people aren't aware of. Check out Wikipedia for some background info. You can even play some audio clips too!

ROSSINI STABAT MATER AUDITIONS!

Our performance of Rossini's Stabat Mater will be held on April 1, 2007 at 5pm at St. Edward's Catholic Church on Palm Beach. We are looking for singers of all voice parts to join the chorus for the performance. This piece is INCREDIBLE! We'll have a full orchestra and a quartet of professional soloists to bring the piece to life. Check out some background on the work and it's composer HERE.


Rehearsals are on Tuesday nights at 7:30pm on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach.

Messiah - Don't Just Sit There...Sing!

Well, our performance of Messiah is almost here! Don't forget about the all important SING-ALONG SECTION! A special area of the church is reserved for those in the audience who would like to sing along with the chorus in the performance. So, all you closet and aspiring singer out there: come join us! MESSIAH - Soloist Swap

Our soprano and tenor soloists will not be able to sing in the performance because of illness. Not to worry! Their replacements are sure to please!

Soprano Renee Costanzo has degrees from The Eastman School of Music and University of Miami, sings with Palm Beach Opera, and has been heard as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in L'Elisir D'amore, and Gilda in Rigoletto.

Tenor Christian Soto has wowed audiences with his portrayals of Jaquino in Fidelio, Idomeneo in Idomeneo, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Elvino in La Sonnambula, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, and Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore.

Don't forget to bring your scores so you can sing along! We'll have a sing-along section of the church where all the closet singers can sing to their heart's content.

06/07 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT!

MASTERWORKS CHORUS UNVEILS SPECTACULAR SEASON!

PALM BEACH, FL August 23, 2006 --- Now in it's 29th year, The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches will present three performances with works by Fauré, Handel, and Rossini accompanied by a LIVE orchestra in their 2006/2007 season.

The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches will open their season on November 19, 2006 at 5:00 pm at the DeSantis Family Chapel on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University with a concert entitled "FRENCH CONNECTION" which will feature Gabriel Fauré's sublimely lyrical REQUIEM as it's centerpiece. Other works on the program include French art song and choral favorites such as César Franck's PANIS ANGELICUS, a portion of Camille Saint-Saëns' CHRISTMAS ORATORIO, and an excerpt from Hector Berlioz's L'ENFANCE DU CHRIST. Soloists include Ann Teeter Ryan, Soprano, Tammy Locke Ross, Soprano, Javier Bernardo, Tenor, Marty Marshall, Tenor, and Malcolm Arnold, Baritone. The overwhelmingly popular MESSIAH by George Frederic Handel follows on December 17, 2006 at 5:00 pm. This holiday favorite will be presented at The Royal Poinciana Chapel at 60 Cocoanut Row on Palm Beach. Soloists feature Yudith Diaz, Soprano, Misty Bermudez, Mezzo Soprano, Martin Shalita, Tenor, and Lloyd Reshard, Baritone. Rounding out the season is Gioacchino Rossini's STABAT MATER on April 1, 2007 at 5:00 pm presented at St. Edward's Catholic Church on Palm Beach. Although known for his operas, many consider the exciting STABAT MATER to be the finest work Rossini ever wrote. The soloists are Wendy Jones, Soprano, Ceci Grasso Dadisman, Mezzo Soprano, Javier Bernardo, Tenor, and Mark Aliapoulios, Baritone. "We are so excited to be performing these great works with wonderful soloists and a fantastic orchestra...It will be a great season!" acclaimed Dr. Jack W. Jones, Founder and Director of The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches.

The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches will be holding auditions for new members on September 5, 2006 at Vera Lee Rinker Hall on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University. Those who wish to audition are asked to come at 7:00 pm with a solo piece that they would like to sing. All applicants will also be asked to sight-read. Auditions are open to professional and amateur singers of all types and voice parts. Professional training is not required.
